Community Links

At St Aidan’s we have a very popular community Pre-school for any child in the village and surrounding areas.

This Preschool delivers the Foundation Stage Curriculum and provides a wide range of activities for our children.

We are also delighted to host a Playgroup ‘Little Berries’ each Wednesday morning 9 – 10.30 am for mothers and toddlers. This is a great morning offering opportunities for plenty of play and chatter.

Our school hall is used one evening per week for a Ju-jitsu Club.

Students from Rainford, Cowley and Up Holland High Schools, Winstanley College, St John Rigby and St Helens College regularly have work experience in our school. We also offer placements for trainee teachers from Edge Hill University College.

We work closely with our neighbouring schools on musical events in the village such as the Parish Awards and the Up Holland Proms.

We regularly make contributions to the St Aidan’s Church magazine.

One way in which we communicate very effectively with the local community, including our parents, is through our weekly newsletter. This gives details of everything happening at school as well as providing us with an opportunity to help the local community by advertising different events.

We are always anxious to develop strong links with the local and wider community. We would like to extend this to local business and industry where possible.

The Governors are extremely grateful for the number of people from the village community who come to help in school in a whole variety of ways including running clubs, listening to reading and giving talks to the children.
